Placing Beauty in the Unexpected
The surrounding view and terrain of Mt. Larson is a surreal experience. Programmatically maximizing the view was the first priority. However, by bringing in small jewel boxes, or terrariums, into the project there is a layer of unexpected in the interior spatial experiences. These manicured additions of natural elements highly contrast with highly polished materials in the interior to create an experience that is now paralleled with the one-of-a-kind view.
A terrarium (plural: terraria or terrariums) is usually a sealable glass container containing soil and plants and can be opened for maintenance to access the plants inside. Closed terraria create a unique environment for plant growth, as the transparent walls allow for both heat and light to enter the terrarium.
